"My dear boy, your dark side remains yet to be awaken... But it's there, waiting for its day. Let it flow through your being, show it to the world! For your destiny demands it to be so..."
TEH SCARYNESS. OMG.
Actually, the pic I had in my mind was kinda scarier than this. But my coloring skills SUCK. Big time. I look at such amazing artists with such a clean, polished lineart and clean, polished color. I have no idea how they do it. They just do. And, they post pics almost every day. *big sigh* The only way I ever got that kind of picture was when making pixelart in MSPaint. Is it because of the program I use? Corel Photopaint? Or it's just me that doesn't know HOW to use it?
AAAAAAANYWAYS........
This pic fits into the Human Sonic Doubles storyline. I had a lot of things to explain here, but I'll go straight to the main point:
The Black Doom we see here is somewhat of a ghost, created by the same machine that gave the HSD their Chaos Abilities. Even as a ghost, he still retained his urge to take over Earth, but having no matter, it became impossible for him to do that. But he knew of a way to do it. Meanwhile, Kouichi(the boy in the pic) was living faint memories of his biological parents (he was adopted by a couple at the age of three), and stumbled into Black Doom. Black Doom revealed his plan to him, and asked him to assist him. Kouichi refused, but as he looked at Black Doom, he remembered his biological father. Being Shadow's double, Kouichi still had a connection to the alien, and that meant it still had some power over him. Black Doom took advantage of it, managed to get into Kouichi's mind, and revealed some of the boy's darkest secrets to him, tempting him to the dark side, weakening him. Upon Kouichi's final struggle, he takes a final step: he tells him he can show him his real parents. The boy finally snaps and falls to the ground, but he's not uncounscious: Black Doom has the control of everything he'll do, thus his tool for conquering the world is ready.
Meeeeh. That description didn't go as I wanted. But it's pretty scary, when you think what you have here is a supernatural being attempting mind control over a 12-year old. O_o Yeah, I'm weird. This is awfully dark, compared to what I usually do... I'm still a sucker for this mind control kind of stuff. XD I love Kouichi's expression, there.
HSD, concept and characters are (c) of me
Black Doom is (c) of Sega
I dunno how to use Corel Photopaint, but I used to have this exact same problem in Photoshop. You just scan the lineart and then fill in the blank spaces with color using the paint bucket tool, yes?
Bad idea.
Here's what to do (I'm talking in Photoshop terms here so forgive me if I'm making no sense) :
Make a new layer above the lineart and set the layer style to multiply. Then color the blank parts in by hand instead of with the paint bucket. That's all. :3

This newsletter was "born" back in March 2007, from a conversation between ~Lareth and =FrozenStarRo, who with the help of their friends *Iardacil and =Sylwiaa , wanted to make something to promote known and unknown photomanipulators alike here on DeviantArt. As of September 2009 =ImaginaryRosse joined the project and will be helping us out with the weekly choices. While things have changed over time, the essence of the newsletter is still the same. As of recent, the talented =Behana has joined us in bringing you this weekly newsletter and we are excited to have her on board. This is a special feature, with a selection of 50 manips from the past year that we loved.
