You know Disney, right? You've been up to date with their movies, right? So you know of a movie called The Emperor's New Groove, right?
I liked it. I thought I knew it. Then I went to Wikipedia. And then I found this: [link] (Warning, it's lengthy, but TOTALLY worth it if you like learning about movie development) Then my respect for the movie skyrocketed.

Long story short, TENG was going to be a much more standard Disney musical type of film like the rest of the Renaissance of the 90s, but due to various reasons (explained in detail in the link above) the plans for that came crumbling down after years of development, leaving a deadline of about a year and a half to create a new movie out of the ashes. Thus TENG, Disney's first buddy comedy, was born.

Then what was left behind?
Kingdom of the Sun, a Prince and the Pauper-type story set amidst the Incan civilization. If you know the story, add the Prince turning into a llama by a sorceress who wants to snuff out the Sun because it gives her wrinkles, a bunch of awesome Disney music and you get the general idea. :P

Now, I loved TENG, but suddenly I was fascinated by this "what could have been" story. So I went out of my way to find all I could about the working title... Needless to say, sadly I didn't find much, and possibly the only way of learning more would be to watch the documentary mentioned in the link above, "The Sweatbox". Even then, I did manage to find very few, but very interesting bits and pictures... And with those in hand, I drew this.

These are sort of my interpretations of the characters of the "would-have-been" movie. Allow me to introduce them:

1. Pacha 0.1: Yeah, THIS was Pacha in the original movie. So what I did was take the design I saw of him and gave him Pacha 2.0's clothes and added a stick, since he's supposed to be a llama herder.

2. Kuzco: Called Manco in early versions, I took the design I saw of Pacha (he was wearing the emperor's clothes) and played around with that and Kuzco's final design in TENG.

3. Llama Kuzco: Tried to draw a llama out of memory and gave him Kuzco's hair, like they do in the final movie. As a side note, in the original scripts the llama didn't talk (he seems annoyed at the fact, lol).

4. Nina: The one character out of these that didn't survive the fall of the original idea in any way. I simply tried to transpose what little pictures I found of her into this. Her hair was a beast, since what I saw were storyboard sketches, and I didn't really know how it was supposed to be. ...Why do I get the feeling Nina somehow resurfaced in the New School show as Malina?

5. Yzma: She actually has a design which I feel is a close interpretation of her original one, but I only realized that after I drew this. Which is, as you can guess, very close to the original I saw, save for the cape with the feather collar, which I added because I felt it defined her so much. :P

So, there you have it. *whew* Wowie zowie, that was a LOT of writing. And I better stay away from Jabberjaw... XD I do wish I could see how this movie would've turned out. Too bad we may never now, and Disney's locked the best way of doing so up tight in its vaults...

These characters are all (c) to Disney
